The photograph looked good, so I ordered it. I was prepared to buy it until I saw many of the negative posts about this product and how it was nothing like the original Discwasher system from the 70s and 80s. As an early graduation gift to myself, I just purchased all brand new stereo equipment - turntable, EQ, receiver, speakers and speaker stands, and yes, dual cassette deck. I put them on my current turntable (which is a 20 year old Parasound), and they sound wonderful.
It brought me to this item. After 4 years of cracking the books, this adult returning college student will be graduating this year. Well, the Discwasher came today and it looks as if it had never been used; beautiful condition. So, thanks for all of the mentions of the vintage Discwashers. I was intrigued so I went to Ebay to see if I could find one.
I just cleaned some old albums that I purchased a few years ago - Paul Desmond, Miles Davis, etc., plus a few I have since my youth. I gave the review a 3 for neutrality because I've never used the new product and can't say if it's good or bad. I was most looking forward to the new turntable to play my vinyl, and I saw someone's post on the turntable page regarding vinyl cleaners. So crisp and clear, they haven't played like that in a long time. Lo and behold, they had a few for sale, and the bidding was going well.
However, I found one that was "Buy Now" that had the discwasher brush, the bottles of album and stylus cleaner (both at least 3/4 full), instructions, and two other pieces that I'm not sure what they are for. The Discwasher really worked well. But I am very happy with my vintage Discwasher.
Luckily I still have some of the original left. I ordered some of this D4+ junk. Seriously I have been a house music club dj since 1998. and have been able to revive it. and a record that sounded nearly perfect but not perfect which I tried it on. I got all kind of dirty noise through it. Find something ELSE. The d4+ is just shcmeering crappy fluid.
Product is as good as it was 30 years ago. Great Product if you own records.
It was also easier to clean off after use. I was not really impressed with this at all. The older Disc washer 3 was softer and picked up small particles better. Plus, you could store the cleaning fluid in the body of the D3. It seems this product has been compromised to save on cost.
This is NOT the original. I was horribly disappointed with this purchase. Thankfully, I kept my original Discwasher and continue to use this 25+ year-old product over this new piece of junk.
